So after all the demo about applying for loads of graduate training schemes/graduate positions when im in my final year, everything just died down they are sooooo many of them and the online application is just something else haba na weytin?? i had to go through three stages with one of them, some had one month deadline only!!! atleast i did three already; I'll look for the 'easy' ones abeg i have a project and plenty of courseworks to do!

Good thing is i have two lectures a week now starting 2pm so i can sleeeeeep till 12pm then zoom- what a wonderful life

How do I register for NYSC? i'm half heartedly looking to do this maybe for some months only, it'll look good on my CV yea right great Gap year plans more like- I can imagine Calabar, Jos, Abuja haaaaa plus i need the 'military training' to get rid of my mummys boy cheeks

So short lecturer who kept postponing the second part of our final test didn't show up and now the results came in- coursework good; exams no show no mark!! I cant believe people in authority(school board) sometimes you actually think they'll use their brains to erm do something- like organise the test themselves all they have to do is get the question papers from the sex tourist aka 'sick'lecturer or give everyone some assignment to do to make it up. now i have to do this towards the end of summer before i can go to my final year Grrrrrrrr.

I just got an email with our final year project options; May God see us through!

Went to a friend's wedding in Manchester saturday was looking dapper-as usual in my suit, went to my school friend's graduation in Newcastle on monday. Im getting nervous now,i've got my eyes on two graduate schemes at the moment application starts october. fingers crossed!

So i am at that stage right now 3rd year of university (one year to go) and to be honest I'm losing it

On my way back from uni, I bumped into a friend- P from eastern Europe; we worked together in a large grocery store when i was in college. he worked full time i worked part-time
I got fired on my last day,kai, i was going to inform them about my uni plans as well feeling happy and all..

Supervisor: You've been warned several times about your lateness

where was i? so P is smiling from ear to ear as they say, we talked about work and school. He was surprised I'm just going home (it was 7.45pm; i left home 7.45am); complained a bit(alot actually) about how I'm getting tired of the routine, he's teasing me about when i finish i will be wearing suit n tie ordering some people about-yea i wish!
He left the grocery store some months ago, now working with another guy as a kitchen fitter(lazy boy alert!) apparently he's earning £400-£600 a week cash in hand!! chei

He was going on about how he already built a 3-storey-hotel back home and he's getting married this summer...

I left him on the train promising to get in touch...on my way from the station, i bumped into T, a family friend from Nigeria.

T usually comes for holiday but after getting his diploma in Nigeria, he came here with a two year visiting visa with the hope of getting a part-time job for the meantime whilst they sort his university admission out back in naija.

To cut long tory.. T was getting comfy with the job, they offered him full-time position at a stationary warehouse(lazy boy alert!) he's earning £1,600 after tax! chei..he was planing on getting a student visa but the price knocked him back! all you international students out there i hail o!!

So I'm dragging myself up every morning, going out coming in....I'm wondering is this shizzle worth it, at the end of the day I'll probably be getting about the same thing as a full-time sales assistant

Anyway sha, Mr Brian, snelling, Mr smith..I'll sue Ur ass if i don't get a decent job and run off with the student loan!

Alas...throughout the week i had body ache and having lectures from 9am-6pm doesn't help one bit. I was free on Wednesday so i did interval training for just 10minutes this will hopeful help me get used to it; according to cardio 101 "You should never space you're cardio fitness sessions out for more than 48 hours because your body start to loose the positive effects of the previous workout."

Thank God for the British weather!! rain fell today so no running!

After reading london buki's i will be fit blog I decided to start my own training, i wont be doing any marathon,half marathon and all other race for that matter-not that i can anyway- this is just for me and my bored unfit self.

so i started my lil fitness thingy today.I was suppose to start at 6pm changed my mind to 7pm when it'll a bit darker and there will be less traffic and just before those old people start walking their dogs.

7pm i was still looking for my jogging bottoms;found it, them my phone(s) should i take it or not hmm should i just take one of them hmm i'll just drop them! "they can always call back" moreso i dont want any heavy shizzle disturbing me- this is serious stuff.

so 7.30 i just started walking thinking how funny this whole thing is, i mean-run? what for this is not football or basketball its not even table tennis. I remember when i use to train with a football club just before i started uni, i purposely arrive late so i dont do the whole jogging thing. its the most boring form of exercise in the world!

So after walking for 5minutes i started running, i knew exactly where i was going, never been there by foot but i know the place i dont really know how far it is but i just kept going until i got to the traffic lights-perfect excuse to stop i was feeling dizzy anyway.wow 10minutes non-stop

I just walked the remaining distance then turned back after another 5minutes i decided do one more maybe another 10minutes run, immediately i started i could feel some pains in my chest so i slowed down then stopped eventually, thought about my family- Abeg i will try again next week friday....

On the surface Tunde Jaji’s is like many other boys of his age. A keen skateboarder, at twenty he is keen to make a path for himself in the world although he is still unsure of what that might be.

Tunde’s complicated circumstances seem to have arisen since he was sixteen. It was then that he’d fallen out with the people who had had him in their home since he was at primary school. They were not his natural family and they could not (or would not) provide him with documentation to show who he was or how he came to be here in London.

okay i missed the 3.45 megabus from bristol by 30 seconds ouch! the next bus which is also the last one as it is sunday will be leaving 6.00pm. With the hope of getting someone back hope to text me a new ticket before the driver gets the city centre, i roamed about the waterfront with my camera.

As i was adjusting the zoom to take pictures of the statue of some English dude by the name of Burke, a passer by possibly a student of bristol uni or a resident of the city, suddenly exclaimed "He's a Fascist!" i have heard the word before but can not seem to make sense of it so i walked up to him to expalin what he said and tell me more about Burke

"i said i hope you know that man was a fascist"
"what does that mean, who is this fellow actually- isaid"

the we went on to explain to me for about 30 minutes

PSP: Burnout Legends ;)

Burnout Legends” is essentially divided down the middle into two games: on the one hand you’ve got Crash mode, and on the other you have different types of race. In Crash mode, you have a set piece to consider: a road, an intersection crowded with traffic, and -- usually -- a ramp for you to launch yourself into the air. The number of other cars you tangle in the ensuing wreck, and the amount of damage the game calculates, determines whether you win a gold, silver, or bronze medal. Winning medals unlocks new crash scenarios, and damage accumulated unlocks new cars. If Crash mode is your thing, I could see this aspect of “Burnout Legends” keeping you busy for weeks as you chase down every last gold medal.

The race modes come in various flavors. Racing in “Burnout,” though, isn’t just a matter of getting to the finish line first. No, you also have to avoid maniacal computer-controlled cars that are doing their best to bash you into a pile of smoking rubble. There are race and time trial modes, and also my personal favorite -- Road Rage -- in which you race until your car is totaled and win or lose depending on the number of opposing cars you wreck along the way. Finally, Pursuit mode rounds the game out: in this one you play as a cop trying to chase down a fugitive; don’t worry about the guy’s Miranda rights, in this case all you have to do is wreck his car within a certain amount of time. “Burnout Legends” is a port of portions from the three console “Burnout” games, and all in all you’ll find 175 different challenges to test yourself against.

If you’ve played “Burnout” on a console and enjoyed it, you’ll like this one, too -- “Burnout Legends” brings the same action and high fun quotient to the PSP. If you’re looking for a good arcade racer, this is also just the thing: “Burnout Legends” might be the best racing game currently available for the PSP (and that’s saying something).

Graphics: 9. Excellent depiction of speed and steady framerate.
Sound: 8. Loud -- just as it should be.
Gameplay: 9. Fast, fun, and completely irresponsible.

Replayability: 9. So many modes, so many cars, so many ways to send opponents flipping wildly through the air.

It's sleek, it's shiny, it's got that wow factor and it has all the elements any great gadget has. Slightly bigger than you might expect from a device (6.7in x 2.9in) that you're expected to put in your pocket, the PSP oozes appeal all over.

The front is dominated by the large clear 4.3in, 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD 480 x 272 pixel screen with controlling buttons to either side and along the bottom edge. PlayStation players will be familiar with the gaming buttons available as they replicate the standard PS2 controller.Along the bottom is a range of operational buttons such as a home key, volume and screen brightness as well as Start and Select buttons. Strangely rather than a dial, the brightness button offers four different settings and in our tests this didn't always offer us the choice we wanted.
Games and movies will come on Sony's new format (yes another one) called Universal Media Disk (UMD) and are a cross between a miniature CD and a tape cassette. There are currently 30 titles available at launch in the UK including WipeOut Pure and Ridge Racer and these should set you back around £25 each.

For internet access, there's built-in wireless connectivity via IEEE 802.11b allowing you to get updates and extras.The Memory Stick Duo slot means that you can use the PSP as a picture viewer or MP3 player, better still, if you already own a Sony digital camera or camcorder, you can instantly view your images or footage straight from your camera on the bigger screen.

Storage is currently limited to a maximum of 2Gb (a limitation of Memory Stick Duo) so we're not talking about a major contender with the iPod Photo here, but it's still a useful option to have considering the size of the unit's screen.

As for the MP3 player aspect of it, transferring music to and from the device is via Sony's Connect software and as we have said in the past, we don't like it. That said it might just be the software package for you (if other open source alternatives are not sought by homebrew means) and the player will support MP3, MP4, WAV or ATRAC3plus file formats.

ABUJA, March 24 (Reuters) - The normally hectic streets and markets of Nigeria's main cities were deserted on Friday with residents ordered to stay at home and be counted as the first census in 15 years entered its final stage.
The restricted movement measures, which last until 1500 GMT on Friday and Saturday, are part of the authorities' strategy to try and ensure that Africa's most populous country gets credible census results after a series of past fiascos.
Lagos, the sprawling, overcrowded commercial capital in the southwest, has been eerily quiet since Tuesday as the Lagos state government ordered a five-day shutdown to increase its chances of having its enormous population counted.
State television showed children playing football and men staging ram fights outside their homes in streets normally crowded with hawkers, cars and buses.
Other major cities had been conducting business as usual, but on Friday they too were like ghost towns. In Kano, the biggest city in the north and a major centre of trade, and in southeastern Onitsha, a huge and frenetic market city, the only people in sight on the streets were police.
In the capital Abuja, even the vendors of newspapers and mobile phone recharge cards who normally crowd every road intersection had vanished. Census takers in their bright orange jackets were slowly making their way down the streets.
Estimates of Nigeria's population range from 120 million to 150 million. The government says the census is designed to provide better data on demographics and housing that will help improve social services.
But censuses are fraught in Nigeria because rival ethnic and religious groups have tried to use them to assert their numerical superiority and claim a larger chunk of oil revenues and political representation. Rows over results have discredited several counts since independence from Britain in 1960.
SEPARATISTS
The worst trouble in this census has occurred in the southeast, where six suspected members of a separatist group were killed on Tuesday in a clash with police after trying to stop people from being counted.
Suspected members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have also attacked census takers with machetes and acid. Two of the officials died in hospital of their injuries, state radio reported on Friday.
MASSOB campaigns for the southeast, a region dominated by the Ibo ethnic group, to secede. It argues that the Ibo should not be counted in the Nigerian census as they are Biafrans. The Ibo are Nigeria's third largest ethnic group.
There have been violent incidents in other parts of the country. In southwestern Ondo state, five people were killed just before the start of the census in fighting between two ethnic groups over ownership of a village.
In northern Gombe state, public radio reported that a boundary dispute between two ethnic groups was disrupting the census in part of the state as villagers refused to be counted until the row was settled. Several government buildings were torched by irate local residents.
Elsewhere, problems in paying census takers and a dearth of materials have caused delays and arguments.
Several prominent figures including state governors are calling for the census to be extended beyond Saturday, its scheduled final day, arguing that there have been too many delays and hitches for the count to be completed on time.

Nigerian militia MEND

He had arrived minutes earlier in a motorboat bristling with machine-guns and rocket-propelled grenades held by fighters in camouflage body armour and balaclavas.
White flags, a tribute to their tribe's god of war, fluttered from the stern.
This is the Niger Delta, the heart of Africa's biggest oil producer. But despite the billions of dollars in oil wealth, this region - about 70,000 square kilometres - is home to some of the world's poorest people. Most of the fishermen in these creeks live in the same huts and use the same bark nets that their fathers did. More than 60 per cent of Nigeria's 128 million inhabitants scrape by, earning less than $1 a day, with no hope of employment or education.
In many places, the frustration with a government ranked by Transparency International as the third most corrupt in the world has spilled over into violence.
"We have no water to drink, no schools, no electricity, no jobs," complained one machine-gun-toting youth from the latest Delta-based insurgent group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).
"Have you been to Abuja (the capital)? It is paradise there. Why can't we have that down here?"
MEND has masterminded a spate of attacks and two mass kidnappings in the past three months. The first abduction, in January, ended with all four foreigners released unharmed. But after the Nigerian military ordered retaliatory strikes on strategic targets or innocent villagers, depending on who you talk to, a second group of nine expatriate workers were seized last month. Six have been released, but the group still holds two Americans and a Briton.
Alex Vines, head of the African program at London's Royal Institute for International Affairs think tank, believes the attacks are linked to next year's elections. "This type of activity and violence happens during every electoral cycle. The surprise is not that it has happened but that is has happened so soon," he said.
The violence has shut down a fifth of Nigeria's production. The damage to Africa's biggest oil producer, which normally pumps 2.5 million barrels a day, is sending shockwaves through a market already jittery about instability in the Middle East.
The militias know that with 90 per cent of Nigeria's export earnings coming from oil, attacking oil installations is the quickest way to make the Government take notice of their demands. They want an inquiry into killings by the military, promises of development and the release of key tribal leaders.
One of those they want freed is Alhaji Dokubo Asari, whose threats of an all-out war on oil interests drove prices to record highs two years ago. Asari, on trial for treason, has said he was originally armed as a political enforcer to ensure the election of current Rivers State governor Peter Odili in 2003.
"Don't forget, most of these militants received their first weapon from the ruling party," local human rights activist Dimieari Von Kemedi said.
"When the elections were over, the guns melted into the swamps. Given the weapons now available in the Delta, any serious politician will be looking for bigger and better weapons for their own boys."
Twenty-year-old Akpoviri Igbeh, unemployed and looking for work around Warri's docks, approves of what MEND is doing. "They kidnap those foreigners so that people know what is going on here," he said. "We have the right to use force because nobody is listening. We are like the goose that laid the golden egg, but nobody cares for us."
